International Forum «Russia-Africa: Cooperation as a path to sustainable development»

The Russia-Africa Summit was held in 2019. The RSPP presented and approved the recommendations of Russian business aimed at increasing the effectiveness of cooperation. In July of 2023, the Second Russia-Africa Summit will be held,  at which special attention will be paid to issues of business cooperation.

Thanks to outstripping growth and significant development potential, Africa is becoming a territory with which hopes for the rise of the world economy, once supported by the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, are connected.  RSPP member companies are already implementing a significant number of landmark projects that contribute to the sustainable development of the African region. At the same time, in 2016-2022, Russia's share in the foreign trade of African states slightly exceeded 2%, which, of course, does not reflect the full scope of opportunities for expanding cooperation. The presence of African business in Russia, of course, should also be more visible. In a rapidly transforming global network of trade and economic ties, the opportunity to strengthen and expand contacts with long-term partners is of particular value.

It seems that progress in the development of business relations is impossible without the establishment of strong cooperation both with African partners and between Russian businesses in African countries; expansion, optimization and diversification of state support measures; development of the regulatory framework, monetary, financial and logistics component, elimination of various barriers to trade.

What can Russian business offer to African countries now? How to reduce risks by discovering new markets, and how to build relationships with African partners? What do African countries expect? What new development programs and projects are being implemented in Africa? What could be included in the comprehensive business recommendations for the Second Russia-Africa Summit?

These and other issues will be discussed during a discussion with representatives of business and government of Russia and a number of African countries within the framework of the RSPP International Forum "Russia-Africa: Cooperation as a path to sustainable development".
